Little Love for Dillish's Kenyan 'Father'

Little Love for Dillish's Kenyan 'Father'

Just as the Namibian nation and the rest of Africa recover from celebrating the historic Big Brother Africa win by Namibia's Dillish Mathews, claims about a long-lost biological father have taken centre stage.

It follows a report in a Namibian weekly that Dillish's family were allegedly looking for her father.

Her mother was quoted as saying that Dillish would be delighted to meet her biological father as she missed out on a father-daughter relationship while growing up.

Soon after this article was published, Kenyan media seemingly made a seeming breakthrough. They reported that a man called Abdi Guyo showed up and claimed he fathered Dillish after meeting her mother Selma Pashukeni while on a peace-keeping mission in Namibia. Standard Media reports that Guyo was part of the Kenyan contingent peacekeeping force of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group (Untag), deployed from April 1989 to March 1990 in Namibia, monitoring the peace process and the country's first free and fair elections.

Speaking to The Namibian yesterday, however, Dillish seemed annoyed when questioned about the emergence of someone claiming to be her long-lost father.

"We already know what he looks like and I'm not interested," she said.

When asked if she had indeed been looking for her father, she replied without hesitation.

"It's all lies, all of it," before adding that it was a very sensitive issue and she was not willing to entertain any more queries in that regard.

The 22-year-old beauty later posted a tweet to her more than 37 000 followers, revealing some insight into her reaction to the man claiming to be her father.

"Why is this weird dude claiming to be my dad! My dad is Somali! Where did he fall from haaaaaaai -_-".

A source at Standard Media Kenya, however, told The Namibian that Guyo is in fact a Kenyan of Somali origin and that he had provided the media group with documentation that proved he spent time in Namibia.

Winning the grand prize of N$3 million after a three-month stay in the BBA house, seems to have had bitter consequences as everyone and their cousin wants a piece of Dillish.
